16th season of “Operomanija” that began in September is gathering momentum and our repertoire works for October will be presented in the halls and streets of Vilnius, as well as outside the capital.
On 11 October, a chamber version of Arturas Bumšteinas’ sound installation-performance Olympian Machine will return to the Pocket Hall of the Arts Printing House.
On 13 October, the performance of Baroque theatre noise machines Navigations (from the Bad Weather series) will be presented at the Chess Hall of the Vilnius Academy of Arts, as part of the “Music Autumn” festival.
The autumn walks through the Old Town of the capital will continue with The Filler – sonic experience in the Vilna Ghetto, which will take place from 17-22 October. After this run, the piece will return to the streets of the Old Town in the spring of 2024.
Experiences of The Filler are originally extended by the documentary story The Abyss, a co-production between LRT Radio and “Operomanija” premiered on 24 September, where one of the protagonists of The Filler, Joshua Zak, embarks on a search for the traces of his family members lost during the Holocaust, almost 80 years after the liquidation of the Vilna Ghetto. On 26 October, musical images from the archives of the Lithuanian Television Radvila Darius, Son of Vytautas will visit the Vilkaviškis Culture Centre, and in November this production will go on tour in Strasbourg, France.
On 29 October, we invite you to the presentation of vinyl recording and a concert performance of the comic strip opera Alpha at the Pocket Hall of the Arts Printing House. Entry to the event is free.
Also, Ana Ablamonova, producer of “Operomanija”, will attend the “Opera Europa” conference in Copenhagen in October.
In addition, the community choir of “Sodas 2123” culture complex, where “Operomanija” has its studio, will start rehearsals in October; the choir will be led by choirmaster Ieva Marmienė, vocal teacher Vaidas Bartušas and it will feature the singing members of the “Sodas 2123” community.
The repertoire intensifies as the season gets underway, along with numerous behind-the-scenes activities – ideas for new works are being generated and developed, sound recordings are being prepared, tour destinations are scouted and coordinated. We will report on all this soon!
