Vilnius City Contemporary Music Theatre production company “Operomanija” introduces itself with a new logo, marking the change of the organisation. This is the third logo of “Operomanija” during its 17 years of operation. The search for an idea for a new logo took half a year and the final version was chosen from almost two dozen different graphic designs and variations. Graphic design was created by Ugnė Balčiūnaitė; animation – by Emilemilija Animation Studio.
The 2nd Baltic Contemporary Opera Network meeting took place in August in Aknysta – a town on the Latvian and Lithuanian border. Preparations are underway for the 3rd one, which will take place on 26-27 September in Tartu, Estonia. We are therefore launching an open call for contemporary opera and performing arts practitioners and researchers who would like to join the team of Lithuanian representatives. If interested, please contact us at info@operomanija.lt. The 4th meeting of the Baltic Contemporary Opera Network will take place in November in Riga.
Before embarking on a particularly intensive autumn tour abroad, we will mark the beginning of the season with events in Lithuania: on 7 and 8 September, we will present the contemporary opera “Have a Good Day!”, which will be performed four times at the National Kaunas Drama Theatre; on 19 September the concert programme “Late Junctions” will be performed at the Ukmergė Church of Holy Trinity as part of the opening evening of the Prima.Studium.Pro concert series; the telephone booth opera “Things I Didn’t Dare to Say and It’s Too Late Now” will be showcased at the Vilnius international theatre festival “Sirenos” on 29 September (the piece will also be shown three times on 20-21 September at the Lithuanian National Drama Theatre). Sonic experience at the Vilna ghetto “The Filler” also returns to the streets of the Vilnius Old Town after a summer break and will be performed on 25-27 September and 15-20 October. We invite you to take a closer look at the events.
While the repertoire events of Operomanija will be presented in Vilnius, we will be going on a tour abroad. On 28 September, in Vienna, Austria, we will perform a concert with a choreographic tail “The Urban Tale of a Hippo”. In October, we will be presenting contemporary music theatre works as part of the programme of the Lithuanian season in France: on 2-4 October, the opera “Have a Good Day!” will be performed at La Biennale Toulouse; on 5 and 6 October, the performance of Baroque theatre noise machines will take place in the Val-de-Marne and on 19-20 October, musical images from the archives of Lithuanian Television “Radvila Darius, Son of Vytautas”will be performed at the same venue. On 23 and 24 October, the opera “Have a Good Day!” will be shown three times as part of the programme of the Paris Autumn Festival, and the French season will conclude with a musical performance “Sports Group” in Marseille on 7 November. On 29 November, the tour will take us to Warsaw, where “Have a Good Day!” will be shown to the audience of Festiwal Eufonie at Teatr Nowy.
