“It’s like a mini masterpiece. It’s just nothing to take away, nothing to add – it’s very solid, very simple and very real,” said Jonas Mekas in his video diary after seeing the opera “Have a Good Day!” in New York in 2014. The vinyl record, released in 2018, became a documentary proof of the success that first opera by Vaiva Grainytė, Lina Lapelytė, Rugilė Barzdžiukaitė gained during its U.S. premiere. LP of the opera “Have a Good Day!” presents recording of live performances that took place at HERE Art Centre in New York in January 2014. The publication is supplemented with the libretto of the opera in Lithuanian and English, quotes from the reviews published in the solid U.S. press, as well as a gallery of portraits of the main opera heroines – the cashiers of the shopping center. The opera “Have a Good Day!” is a kind of ode to capitalism, having traveled to many countries, theaters, concert halls and festivals around the world, and has been awarded national and international awards.
