Degenerate Singing

Degenerate Singing is a solo-performance – opera initiated by two young artists, which was created during contemporary opera creative workshops that took place in Kražiai and Juodkrantė in 2009. Jonas Sakalauskas was inspired to write the music and act the role in the opera Degenerate Singing by the eponymous collection of verse by interwar Lithuanian poet Pranas Morkūnas. To unveil the themes of artist’s life and experiences and the issues of man’s inner world the creators have selected plastic and musical etudes from which they have construed the solo-performance – opera Degenerate Singing.
