The dance opera NO AI DI (2010) was created by a choreographer, dancer, and librettist Erika Vizbaraitė and composer Rita Mačiliūnaitė. The two artists consider human existence within a synthetic genotype in the philosophical context of ethnic Scandinavian consciousness. The libretto is woven from the fragments of Sami poetry and stories, it tells a universal truth about the search for harmony between human self-knowledge and the world. The symbolic climb into the mountain can be taken as a summary of the NO AI DI narrative story. However, the title of the dance opera arises from a Sami word noaidi, meaning a sage, or a shaman. The authors use this term to designate the central heroine of the piece. The universal symbolic character in the opera is a dancing shaman and a signing heroine (the voice of the shaman)—together they become a link between the secrets of the human and the universe (prof. habil. dr. Gražina Daunoravičienė).
